. . . Ain't my baby . . . name . . . The Girl List

Now that we're expecting a son in August :), I'm back to share the would-be list. The girls list was actually easier to populate - many less girls names end in 'ck' - than our boys list. Here it is:

Our top three:
Bridget
Nora
January - yes, just like the month

The others:
Sydney - The only name Mitchell has come up with so far (I don't like it)
Alice
Julia
Leah
Anna
Charlotte - which would not have been shortened to Char

We'll put these in the vault in case we have a girl in the future, but in the next few years I am sure our tastes in baby names will change. But, just to be safe, anyone who reads this is completely forbidden from using any of these names. (just kidding - but seriously I've had people say that to me about a particular name - completely serious)

And, to answer your next question, the only prescriptions we are on are a prenatal vitamin (me), and an allergy reliever (Mitchell). Oh, and Izzers is on a heartworm preventative.

The Newest Mr. Hunt

Our ultrasound Monday afternoon was wonderful and I'm happy to report that Baby Hunt is doing very well. He (yes, HE) is completely normal in all that the technician was able to see, and we were able to see him squirm around. He currently weighs in at 11 ounces, right where he should be. He was lying face down, so we did not get a good look at his face or a good profile picture, but we still have plenty to look at.

I was worried that after we heard Baby Hunt's gender I would wish for it to have remained a surprise. Afterwards, we are both very glad to have found out. I think not knowing would have driven me crazy for the next four months. Baby Hunt, I apologize for posting pictures of you in the nude on the internet - I am pretty sure DHS does not care until you are out of a uterus, at which point these will stop

The technician took a few 3d pictures as well, which was when I learned I am going to give birth to an alien:

Isn't he cute?

This last picture is my favorite. Izzers will often climb into our bay window and turn around, mooning anyone who walks by. I was somehow not surprised to see our little boy's butt and feet pointing towards us in this photo.

Oh, We're Half Way There

The 20-week mark has officially come - I am half way through this pregnancy (well, let's hope). We are all anxiously awaiting our ultrasound tomorrow where we'll get to see Baby Hunt for the first time, and assuming everything continues to go well, the last time until he or she is born. Sadly, the OBGYN office doesn't look kindly on small, fluffy dogs running around so Izzers will not be in attendance. Since you already know her prediction, I thought I would share ours. For those who know us well, you'll not be surprised to hear that our predictions are different. I think I am having a boy while Mitchell agrees with Izzers (and nine others from our poll).

We did a little shopping yesterday - and yes, I do mean a little, because there are essentially two-three stores in the area that carry maternity clothes - and looked at some adorable baby clothes as well. Previously, we had gone back and forth on whether or not to keep Baby Hunt's gender a surprise. After a little shopping it was clear that wasn't going to happen. It seems that baby clothes are either very boyish (think cars, trucks, blues) or very girlish (complete with flowers, the word 'princess'[which our child will not be wearing], and hot pink). The selection of gender neutral items is very slim. And we're vain enough to want our baby in appropriate clothing. (Note: We are more than happy to dress a little girl in blue, but Mitchell draws the line at dressing a boy in pink).

In other news, I've been wondering lately if the little 'bubbles' I have been feeling are Baby Hunt. They seem to occur when I'm hungry or have just eaten, so I've been chalking them up to chicken wings and hamburgers thus far. I have heard that seeing the baby move can confirm this - another thing we're looking forward to.

We have also been planning a Babymoon in May in Chicago. We both love the city, so we're going to stay downtown for a couple of nights, do some shopping, have dinner with some of my old sorority sisters, catch a museum or two (yep - we're that nerdy), and attend a Cubs game. I am sure my mother's family will be very disappointed to hear that Baby Hunt will be raised as a Cubs fan. They are a diehard Cardinals family (which happens when you grow up in St. Louis). I blame Mitchell for the corruption - However, if Fontenot ever becomes a Card, I may just have to join the family train. It'll be a good time to spend some time together before 'we' becomes 'three'.

That's all for now - expect a phone call tomorrow or in the next few days with the big news, and check back in to see the very first pictures of Baby Hunt!

Ain't my baby. . . Name. . . Update #1

So, it's been about three weeks since the first 'Ain't my baby . . . Name' post, and I've been reminded that I was going to post names as they were struck off of the list (looks at Baby Mama). . .

As promised, here is an update with 2 names (one boy, one girl) that have been 'removed from consideration,' with reasons for removal.

Boy: Grant. When I hear Grant I think of two things: finances I didn't try to get enough of in college, and bratty British Actors who pass on Elizabeth Hurley for a prostitute that looks more masculine than me.

Girl: Hannah. Two words - Hannah Montana. Besides, I do not have the ability to grow a Billy Ray mullet.

So stay on the lookout for more name updates. If all goes well next Monday (Ultrasound for those playing the home game), we'll be able to throw out one list entirely. We'll plan on posting it for you to read, and to wonder what prescription(s) we are on to justify considering some of these names.

Baby Hunt Style

Mitchell is away on a business trip in Wisconsin, and Izzers is staring out the window waiting for him to come home, so I am browsing adorable baby clothes on Etsy, and have a few favorites to share.

Dependent on the result of our ultrasound in twelve days (but really, who is counting?), one of these will be purchased soon after:

This is a necessity either way:

History: Mitchell's grandfather's name was Albert, and he had a t-shirt with this same picture on it growing up. It is perfect.

Also, who can resist this:

The Five Month Countdown

Seriously, five months? only five months? It's true- Baby Hunt is due five months from today.

Five months in many situations seems like such a long time - in high-school, waiting for the beginning of summer, or in July, looking forward to Christmas (I listen to the music year round - it's never to early to celebrate for me). But in this situation, five months seems like such a short amount of time. Only five months to prepare. Only five months to make so many important decisions - childcare, pediatrician/family doctor (we still do not have one in the local area), different aspects of parenting/discipline, finding the prefect name, etc. All of a sudden, five months feels like 2 weeks. If in the next five months we tell you we're bored, tell us that we, in fact, have lots to do.

It seems that these past three months have flown by. And really all we have done is gone to a few appointments and spread the wonderful news. Oh, and I've almost chosen a carseat. We're already overwhelmed and Baby Hunt isn't even here yet. :) I get the feeling we're already being prepared for parenthood. Needless to say, it is going to be a busy five months.

In other news, if you've noticed the blog changing little by little, it is not your imagination. I am trying to slowly spruce it up, so please bear with me. :)
